Canadian Copy Of Prince's 'The Black Album' Up For Sale

The only known Canadian vinyl copy of Prince’s The Black Album has gone up for sale.

A former worker at a Toronto record pressing plant found the album, which was set for release in 1987 before Prince scrapped the project and ordered more than 500,000 copies destroyed.

It is thought to be one of only nine copies that exist.

In 1994, Prince decided to release The Black Album as a limited edition CD and cassette.

A pristine vinyl copy of The Black Album sold in the U.S. last year for nearly $55,000 but the Canadian one is expected to fetch less because it has been played.

Jeff Gold, who worked with Prince in the 1990s, has put the Canadian album on the market on behalf of its owner, who wants to remain anonymous.
