Chris Brown could land himself behind bars for having a monkey.

TMZreported that the Los Angeles City Attorney is charging the 29-year-old singer with two counts of having a restricted species without a permit.

Brown bought a baby capuchin monkey, which he named Fiji, in the fall of 2017. In December, he was slammed on social media after images surfaced of his 3-year-old daughter Royalty cradling the little primate.

According to TMZ, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife launched an investigation based on complaints. It said Brown surrendered his exotic pet.

The case goes to court on Feb. 6. Penalties include up to six months in jail, but it’s not likely Brown will do jail time.
