Corey Hart, who was a massive music star in the ‘80s thanks to songs like “Sunglasses At Night” and “Never Surrender” announced Sunday he’s set for a comeback.
The 56-year-old Montreal native told fans via Facebook that he’s working on a new album and plans to tour.
“Very honoured to confirm that the legendary Bob Ezrin will be producing my first album in over 20 years,” Hart wrote. “We start recording next month!”
The singer said an arena tour, produced by Live Nation, will happen next summer.
“SO looking forward to this new adventure,” Hart added. “If we keep believing, good things can happen.”
Ezrin, 69, is the Toronto-born music producer who has worked with a long list of acts that includes Alice Cooper, Peter Gabriel, Kiss and Pink Floyd as well as Canadians like The Tenors and Johnny Reid.
Hart’s 1983’s debut First Offense earned him Juno and Grammy nominations, and he followed it in 1985 with Boy in the Box, which sold more than a million copies in Canada.
In addition to his signature hit, “Sunglasses At Night” (which reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100), Hart enjoyed success with the ballad “Never Surrender” as well as “Everything in My Heart” and a cover of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
His most recent studio album was 1998’s Jade, although Hart has released a handful of singles and performed some live shows in recent years.
Hart was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame at a ceremony in 2017 in Toronto.
The singer and his wife, Quebec singer Julie Masse, live in Bahamas with their four children.
