Country Music Loses Troy Gentry, Don Williams On Same Day

Troy Gentry, of country music duo Montgomery Gentry, died in a helicopter crash on Friday in New Jersey. The singer was 50. 

Gentry was pronounced dead at hospital. Pilot James Evan Robinson died on the scene.

The crash is still under investigation.

Montgomery Gentry began in 1999 and went on to become a platinum-selling country sensation.

Don Williams, another beloved country star, died on Friday at the age of 78 following a short illness. He was known for his height and warm vocals, earning him the nickname "The Gentle Giant." 

Williams had 17 country hits reach No. 1, of which many have been covered by other artists, and he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010.
