Demi Lovato is recovering from a reported drug overdose as friends and fans around the world offer best wishes on social media.
“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support," said a rep from the 25-year-old pop star, in a statement.
No reason for Lovato’s hospitalization were disclosed but the statement said “some of the information being reported is incorrect” and the singer’s family “respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”

Joe Jonas, a longtime friend of Lovato, tweeted: “Like all of you I am thinking of @DDLovato right now. She needs our prayers and support. We all know how strong you are Demi.”
The sentiment was echoed by music stars like Bebe Rexha, Brad Paisley, Ariana Grande, Kesha, Kehlani and Adam Lambert. Canada's Shawn Mendes tweeted: "Demi Lovato, I know you’re a strong woman. I love you and I hope you get better."
Fans took to social media to let Lovato know they are standing by her in this difficult time.
"Mental illness is such a powerful demon, and a constant struggle... but our girl has got this...," tweeted one fan account. "One move does not erase all the progress nor does it mean she's any less of an inspiration. We love you @ddlovato no matter what, and we're here to stay. We promise."
TMZ was first to report Tuesday that Lovato was taken to hospital from her Hollywood Hills home. Its law enforcement sources said she was found unconscious and given Narcan, which is used to treat victims of opioid overdoses.
The website said Lovato suffered what appeared to be a heroin overdose but this was disputed by a source cited by People.
Tuesday night’s episode of Beat Shazam, taped last year, was replaced with a different episode because Lovato was a special guest. “Our thoughts go out to Demi and her family," Fox said in a statement.
Lovato was scheduled to perform in Atlantic City on Thursday and at a benefit for Kids Help Phone in Toronto on Sunday.
