Detroit Cops Probe Claim R Kelly Sexually Assaulted Teen
The legal woes continue for R Kelly, who was taken into custody Wednesday for failing to pay $161,663 U.S. in child support.
Now, according to a report by CBS 2 in Detroit, investigators are probing an allegation that the R&B singer had sex with a 13-year-old girl in 2001 and gave her herpes. Detroit Police Chief James Craig told the station detectives are eager to speak to the alleged victim, who is now 30 and no longer lives in Michigan.
Earlier this year, a 21-year-old woman sued Kelly in New York City alleging that he sexually assaulted her when she was 19 and gave her herpes.
Kelly was charged last month with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse in Chicago. Three of four alleged victims were minors at the time.
In an emotional interview that aired Wednesday on CBS This Morning, Kelly denied he has ever had sex with a minor and denied allegations that he is keeping two women at his home against their will.
In 2008, Kelly was acquitted of child pornography charges after a videotape surfaced allegedly showing him engaged in sex with, and urinating on, a 14-year-old girl. In 1994, Kelly reportedly married singer Aaliyah, who was 15 at the time. A court later annulled the marriage, which Kelly denied ever took place.
