Did Lil Peep Take Drugs Laced With Fentanyl?
Police in Tucson, Arizona are reportedly investigating the sudden death of rapper Lil Peep earlier this month.
The rising star, whose real name was Gustav Åhr, died Nov. 15 of a suspected overdose. He was 21.
An official cause of death has not been determined, pending toxicology tests. According to TMZ, officials are looking into whether the opioid drug fentanyl had a role in Peep’s death.
The site said Peep was found dead on his tour bus with drug paraphernalia as well as Xanax, marijuana, and an unknown powder.
His brother Karl Åhr told People the death was not intentional.
“He thought he could take what he did, but he had been given something and he didn’t realise what it was,” he said. "It was an accident, it really was an accident.
“He was super happy with where he was in life.”
In a video Lil Peep posted on Instagram not long before his death, he said he took six Xanax and was “lit.” He added: “I’m good,” he said. “I’m not sick.
