DMX was sentenced Wednesday to a year in prison for tax evasion.
During his hearing in a New York courtroom, "X addressed the judge directly" and reportedly "took responsibility for his actions," according to TMZ. The rapper admitted that he was "too old to be doing the things he's doing and admitted he hasn't been thinking straight."
The judge gave him a one year prison sentence, followed by three years of supervised release.
As previously reported, DMX's lawyer, Murray Richman, planned to play some of the artist's songs during his sentencing in order for the judge to "understand him genuinely in his voice." He also reportedly showed the judge X's "Slippin'" music video.
Prosecutors were pushing for the maximum sentence of five years.
