Drake has confirmed he’s a father.
“I wasn’t hiding my kid from the world / I was hiding the world from my kid,” Drake admits in “Emotionless,” one of 25 tracks on his just-released album Scorpion.
On “March 14,” the Toronto rap superstar goes into more detail. “Yesterday mornin’ was crazy / I had to come to terms with the fact that it’s not a maybe / That s**t is in stone / Sealed and signed / She’s not my lover like Billie Jean / But the kid is mine,” he confessed.
Last month, rapper Pusha T released “The Story Of Adidon,” in which he accused Drake of having a secret child with former porn star Sophie Brussaux. She had a baby on Oct. 24 (which happens to be Drake’s birthday).
Pusha T rapped: “You are hiding a child / let that boy come home / Love that baby / respect that girl / Forget she’s a pornstar / let her be your world.”
On his Scorpion track “March 14,” Drake mentions his late grandmother’s warning about pregnancy.
“Sadie used to tell me all it takes is one time / And all it took was one time / S**t, we only met two times, two times / And both times were nothin’ like the new times / Now it’s rough times / I’m out here on front lines / Just tryna make sure that I see him sometimes.”
He continues: “It’s breakin’ my spirit / Single father, I hate when I hear it / I used to challenge my parents on every album / Now I’m embarrassed to tell ’em I ended up as a co-parent / Always promised a family unit / I wanted it to be different because I been through it / But this is the harsh truth now / Fairy tales are saved for the bedtime stories I tell you now.”
Scorpion, Drake’s first album since 2016’s Views, dropped at midnight. It includes the previously released single "God's Plan," "Nice for What" and "I'm Upset" and features a collaboration with Jay-Z and a track with vocals by the late Michael Jackson.
