Canada’s Drake is among the music stars sharing words of support for victims of catastrophic flooding in southern Texas.
Thousands of people are in shelters in the Houston area as water levels continue to rise in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.
“All I can think about is how devastated I am as I look at images of the damage Hurricane Harvey has caused,” wrote Drake, who is currently in London, in an Instagram post.
“Myself and @futuretheprince are working with local relief groups to aid and assist the people of Texas in anyway we can and in the most immediate way possible,” he added. “I also want to thank all the men and women of service and volunteers for their courageous efforts to help people in need. I encourage everyone to do what they can to assist the people of Texas knowing whatever effort you can make to help will go a long way.”
Both Beyoncé and former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland offered “prayers” for Texas on social media. Rowland added: “Houston has, and always will be the city that changed my LIFE!”
Also taking to social media with support are Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, Miranda Lambert, Common, Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, Kacey Musgraves, Cher and Sheryl Crow.
Country act Lady Antebellum, forced to cancel a concert in Houston due to the storm, said it was donating proceeds from merchandise sales at the previous night’s Dallas show to hurricane relief efforts.
