Drake Becomes First Artist To Reach 10 Billion Streams On Spotify
Last December, Drake’s ubiquitous “One Dance” hit 1.15 billion streams on Spotify – a significant feat for a single track. Now, the Swedish streaming service released data showing that the Canadian hip hop titan has become the first artist to reach 10 billion plays.
The bulk of those plays come from his hit 2016 album Views, with the rest split between his six other full-length albums. That staggering number could further skyrocket with the release of More Life.
Recently, it was announced that Drake – who has an exclusive deal with Apple Music – would not be offering his forthcoming mixtape More Life exclusively to the streaming giant.
It will launch simultaneously on Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon Music. It is expected to drop today (Mar. 18).
