A Vancouver casino’s Instagram account disappeared over the weekend after Drake called it “the worst run business” on social media.
According to a statement from Parq Vancouver on Sunday, its Instagram account “seems to have been disabled last night without our consent.”
The rapper, who performed concerts in the city on Saturday and Sunday, slammed Parq Vancouver in an Instagram Story on Friday night.
“Parq casino @parqvancouverbc is the worst run business I have ever witnessed,” he wrote. “Profiling me and not allowing me to gamble when I had everything they originally asked me for.”
Drake did not elaborate on the profiling accusation.
Fans immediately came to the superstar’s defence and attacked Parq on social media and on review sites like Yelp.
Parq issued two statements on Saturday in response to Drake’s complaint.
“On behalf of Parq Vancouver we would like to apologize for the experience our customer had,” read one. “We are operating in one of the most complex, highly regulated industries and are always looking to better our communication and customer service. We are constantly improving our communications process to ensure that these new regulations are better understood by all guests.
“We categorically stand against racism of any kind. We are committed to providing a safe, secure and enjoyable experience for all.”
Casinos in B.C. are strictly regulated due to money laundering linked to organized crime. Guests who want to spend more than $10,000 in a 24-hour period must provide a receipt showing the cash came from an account at a financial institution on the same date.
Casinos who do not enforce the rule can lose their gaming license.
Drake has a day off before his Aubrey & the Three Migos Tour stops in Edmonton for shows on Tuesday and Wednesday.
