Canadian artists came up empty at the 2018 Brit Awards, which took place in London on Wednesday.
Drake lost International Male Solo Artist to Kendrick Lamar (who also beat Childish Gambino, Beck and DJ Khaled) and Arcade Fire lost International Group to Foo Fighters (who also beat LCD Soundsystem, Haim and The Killers).
The award for International Female Solo Artist went to Lorde, beating Taylor Swift, Bjork, Pink and Alicia Keys.
In the “battle of the former One Directioners” it was Harry Styles who took British Artist Video of the Year, for “Sign Of The Times.” He topped Liam Payne’s “Strip That Down” (ft. Quavo) and ZAYN and Taylor Swift’s “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.”
Also nominated in the category were Ed Sheehan (“Shape Of You”) and Little Mix (“Touch”).
Sheeran also lost British Male Solo Artist and British Album of the Year to Stormzy and British Single of the Year to Rag'n'Bone Man (for “Human”) – but he picked up the Global Success 2018 award.
Gorillaz was named British Group of the year.
Dua Lipa was a big winner, taking home British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough.
“You guys have made all my dreams come true,” Lipa said.
Lipa and Sheeran were two of the night’s performers, along with Liam Payne and Rita Ora, Foo Fighters, Justin Timberlake with Chris Stapleton, and Sam Smith.
