Rising British pop singer Dua Lipa and LA producer Whethan released their dark yet soulful contribution to the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack with “High” on Friday.
Regardless of if you’re a fan of the erotic series, music lovers can admit that the franchise never fails at compiling an impressive soundtrack for each film, with hits like Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do,” Taylor Swift and Zayn’s “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” and The Weeknd’s “Earned It.”
With the third and final instalment, Fifty Shades has again focused their sights on newer and up-and-coming artists like Lipa and Whethan. Others featured on the latest soundtrack include Julia Michaels’ “Heaven” and “Are You,” Hailee Steinfield and BloodPop’s “Capital Letters,” Jessie J’s “I Got You (I Feel Good)” and a collaboration with former One Directioner Liam Payne and Rita Ora with “For You.”

“'High' is a song that shows my alternative electronic direction and has the amazing Dua Lipa singing on it,” Whethan said in a press release. “I've been excited for people to hear this one, and I can’t wait for people to hear all my new music coming out.”
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Fifty Shades Freed and the soundtrack will both be released on Feb. 9.
Ahead of her sold out show in Montréal on Jan. 30, Lipa was presented with her first Canadian Gold and Platinum plaques for her 2017 breakout hits “New Rules” and “Blow Your Mind (Mwah).” The pop singer will be returning to Canada on Feb. 16 for her Self-Titled tour in Vancouver.
