Ed Sheeran Promises New Song Friday
Keeping the momentum up after his standout performance at the Grammys this past Sunday, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran said on Twitter yesterday (Feb. 14) that fans can expect a new song this Friday, Feb. 17.
“New song coming friday, look out for it,” he tweeted.
The new track will be the third release from forthcoming album ÷, trailing in the wake of smash singles “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill”, which debuted at number one and six, respectively, on the Billboard Hot 100. The U.K. singer broke records, becoming the first artist to debut two songs in the top 10 in the history of the Hot 100.
Sheeran, 25, appeared on Ellen Feb. 14 as part of his promotion of the songs to perform “Shape of You”, as well as surprise his youngest fan. While there, he shared with the host that he has been living one year without a phone.
Despite his chart success, the “Castle on the Hill” singer made headlines this past week because he was denied entry to his own music label’s Grammys party. “That’s actually happened four years in a row, and that’s not just my label’s after-party, that’s just after-parties in general,” he told On Air with Ryan Seacrest.
“It’s just – do you know what I don’t get… it’s like you walk into those parties and there’s four musicians there and everyone else there are people from LA who didn’t even go to the Grammys and just want a party to go to.”
