Elton John scrapped his concert in Orlando on Tuesday night and has pulled the plug on one scheduled for tonight in Tampa.
“Due to an ear infection and doctor’s orders, the sold out show … is being postponed to a date to be determined,” read a statement from Amalie Arena in Tampa.
Orlando fans, though, were not told of the cancellation until minutes before the 71-year-old was to take the stage.
“Elton John was in the building and the news was shared with us immediately prior to the P.A. announcement being made,” read a tweet on the Amway Center account.
Earlier in the week, John's Instagram featured a photo captioned: "I spent the weekend in Florida, playing in Miami and Sunrise. Thank you to both audiences, you were fantastic and I had so much fun!"
John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour kicked off in September and is expected to run three years. His next scheduled show is Nov. 30 in Atlanta.

This is what the crowd looked like right as the show was to start. It was cancelled by “Sir Elton” @ 8:20pm bc he had an ear infection.
Never again will I view him the same. pic.twitter.com/4Fic7Es6XB
