Eric Church’s concert Saturday in Nashville broke an attendance record set by Taylor Swift.
According to a press release from the country star’s reps, 56,521 people were at Nissan Stadium for Church’s show.
Swift has held the previous attendance record at the venue – 56,112 – since her Reputation Stadium Tour stop on Aug. 25, 2018. Only two weeks earlier, country star Kenny Chesney had broken a record held by pop group One Direction since 2014.
The Nissan Stadium opened in 1999.
The Tennessean reported that Church performed 37 songs over about three-and-a-half hours during his first stadium show as a headliner.
“If I die up here, I’m gonna die up here,” he told the crowd. “I’m gonna give you all I got.
“I came here 15 years ago and I had dreams. But I’m not sure I could dream this big. This night’s a special night for me.”
Church is currently on his Double Down tour. He plays Ottawa’s Bluesfest on July 5 and the Cavendish Beach Music Fest in PEI on July 7 and then returns to Canada in September for a show at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary.
