Fran Drescher, the actress best known for starring in The Nanny, says she wants Cardi B to co-star with her in a new series.
“She would be good playing my daughter,” Drescher, 61, said of the 26-year-old rap superstar. "We’re in the talking stages right now and our fans have been supportive on social media.
“She’s a fan of mine and I would protect her and take good care of her.”
Drescher told the New York Post she knows Cardi’s busy music career means she wouldn’t be able to commit to a long-running show but maybe the two could do a 10-episode streaming series.
“She might really enjoy that and it would be another notch in her belt,” said Drescher.
In September, Cardi shared a photo on Instagram of herself wearing a leopard-print dress as a tribute to Drescher. Fans immediately suggested a reboot of The Nanny with the rapper in the titular role.
Drescher said she’s not interested in doing a new version of The Nanny, which continues to be popular in syndication. “The show has a reverence to it and I wouldn’t want to soil that,” she said.
Cardi was on two seasons of Love & Hip-Hop: New York and had a guest role on an episode of Being Mary Jane.
