Hootie & The Blowfish, Barenaked Ladies To Tour In 2019

Hootie & the Blowfish announced Monday they’re hitting the road next year – and bringing a Canadian band along for the ride.

Barenaked Ladies will join Darius Rucker’s group for the 44-city Group Therapy Tour, which will start May 30 in Virginia and wrap up with a Sept. 13 show in South Carolina. There’s only one Canadian stop – Aug. 29 at Budweiser Stage in Toronto. Tickets go on sale Dec. 7.

Hootie & the Blowfish enjoyed success in the ‘90s with hits like “Hold My Hand,” “Let Her Cry,” and “Only Wanna Be With You.” They earned two Grammys and two American Music Awards.

The band, which also includes Mark Bryan, Dean Felber and Jim Sonefeld, went on a hiatus in 2008 and Rucker launched a country music career.

″When the four of us get back together, we fall into the same dynamic of the band that’s always there," Rucker told The Associated Press. "We’ve been a band for pretty much 30 years now. We’re just older now. There’s a lot less alcohol."

The Group Therapy Tour will support a new studio album – their first since 2005’s Looking for Lucky.

The Barenaked Ladies’ most recent album was last year’s Fake Nudes.
