The husband of Heart’s Ann Wilson was sentenced Friday for assaulting the twin sons of Heart’s Nancy Wilson.
Dean Wetter, 66, received a suspended sentence — meaning no jail time — and two years of probation. He must pay restitution to his victims, attend counselling, and have no contact with his nephews.
Wetter pleaded guilty in March to two counts of fourth-degree assault following an altercation last August backstage at a Heart concert in Auburn, Washington.
According to police reports, the teen boys, Curtis and William, were grabbed by the throats and one of them was slapped and punched in the head. Wetter reportedly complained to investigators that the twins gave him “a lot of attitude” but admitted he should not have put his hands on them.
The incident has reportedly caused tension between the Wilson sisters, even though Ann has said police involvement was “unnecessary” and Nancy has described it as “more negative than it needed to be.”
The boys, now 17, are the sons of Nancy Wilson and film director Cameron Crowe.
Heart got its start in Vancouver, B.C. in the early 1970s. Their long list of hits includes “Barracuda,” “Crazy On You,” “Alone” and “What About Love.”
