Justin Bieber Apologizes For Pregnancy Prank
Justin Bieber admitted Tuesday it’s not too late to say sorry – for his April Fool’s prank.
On Monday, the pop star had a little fun on Instagram by pretending that his wife Hailey is pregnant.
It was clear right away that it was an April Fool’s joke (the 2012 ultrasound image he used comes up when you do a Google Image search for “ultrasound”) but not everyone was laughing.
“I’m disappointed in him for posting a fake pregnancy announcement,” someone shared. “Honestly, not a funny joke when millions of women are struggling with infertility and other issues of the sort. Sad, @justinbieber.”
Bieber responded to the storm of criticism on social media.
“There’s always gonna be people offended, there’s also people who don’t take jokes very well,” Bieber acknowledged.
“I am a prankster and it was APRIL FOOLS. I didn’t at all mean to be insensitive to people who can’t have children. A lot of people I know, their first go to prank on April fools is telling their parents they are pregnant to get a big reaction.”
Still, Bieber did the Canadian thing. “I will apologize anyway and take responsibility and say sorry to people who were offended,” he wrote. “I truly don’t want anyone to be hurt by a prank.”
He ended his comments with #sorry and #truly.
