Justin Bieber has opened up about his decision to cancel the remaining shows on his Purpose World Tour.
In a letter to fans posted on Instagram, Bieber said pulling the plug was for very personal reasons.
“Me taking this time right now is me saying I want to be SUSTAINABLE,” he wrote. “I want my career to be sustainable, but I also want my mind heart and soul to be sustainable.
“So that I can be the man I want to be, the husband I eventually want to be and the father I want to be.”
Shortly after announcing the cancellation of the tour, including two concerts in Toronto, Bieber told the Splash News agency: “I’ve been on tour for two years … Sorry for anybody who feels disappointed or betrayed, it’s not my heart or anything.”

In his open letter, Bieber said he is grateful for his fans and that the tour was “unbelievable and has taught me so much about myself.” He added: “I am reminded of how blessed I am to have a voice in this world.”
The 23-year-old Canadian pop star insisted he is still learning and growing.
“I have let my insecurities get the best of me at times, I let my broken relationships dictate the way I acted toward people and the way I treated them,” Bieber shared.
“I let bitterness, jealousy and fear run my life.!!!!”
Bieber said he’s not perfect. “What I’m not gonna do is let my past dictate my future,” he wrote. “What I’m not gonna do is be ashamed of my mistakes.”
The Purpose tour kicked off on March 9, 2016 and stopped in nine Canadian cities that year. According to Pollstar, it grossed more than $200 million USD.
Many reviewers of the show claimed Bieber looked "bored," lip-synced most of his songs, and criticized fans for screaming when he tried to talk.
Last October, The Guardian noted "he looks either bored senseless or actively miserable, like a man who’s been hauling himself around the world doing this kind of thing since he was 15 and doesn’t really want to do it any more."
