Justin Timberlake Says New Album Is Inspired By His Memphis Roots

If you weren't a fan of Justin Timberlake's Oscar-nominated "Can't Stop The Feeling," then you'll be happy to know that his next album will be a little bit more based on his southern roots.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, JT admitted that the follow-up to 2013's The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2 will be inspired by his Tennessee stomping grounds and serve as a project that grabs the most inspiration from his upbringing. "It sounds more like where I’ve come from than any other music I've ever made," he told the outlet. "It's Memphis. It’s Southern American music. But I want to make it sound modern – at least that’s the idea right now."

JT is collaborating with longtime friends/creatives like Pharrell, Timbaland and Max Martin on the LP, which has been in the works for months. In fact, it's something that is definitely keeping his muse at work. He was even in the studio "caught up in a creative tornado" until three in the morning the other night.

While he won't be at Sunday's Grammy Awards, there's a good chance the pop titan will be performing at 89th Academy Awards on Feb. 26, 2017. "It's being negotiated," he teased.
