After being forced to cancel concerts in Montreal and Rio, Lady Gaga has pulled the plug on the European leg of her Joanne World Tour.
“It is complicated and difficult to explain,” the pop superstar said in a message on social media.
“I have always been honest about my physical and mental health struggles,” Gaga wrote.
“As I get stronger and when I feel ready, I will tell my story in more depth, and plan to take this on strongly so I can not only raise awareness, but expand research for others who suffer as I do, so I can help make a difference.”
Gaga recently revealed she suffers from fibromyalgia, a condition that causes chronic pain.
Promoter Live Nation said in a statement that Gaga is “suffering from severe physical pain that has impacted her ability to perform. She remains under the care of expert medical professionals who recommended the postponement.”
The European leg was set to begin Sept. 21 in Spain and wrap up on Oct. 28 in Germany.
Live Nation said the second U.S. leg of the tour, from Nov. 5 to Dec. 18, is expected to go ahead as scheduled.
