We’re only weeks away from country star Aaron Watson’s next album Vaquero. Before its Feb. 24 release, Watson has dropped two upbeat tracks: “These Old Boots Have Roots” and “Texas Lullaby”.
Vaquero will be the follow-up to his chart-topping album The Underdog, which came out in 2015. Last December, the 39-year-old Texan shared the album’s lead single, “Outta Style”, to much fanfare.
These new jams, however, are definite crowd pleasers. “These Old Boots Have Roots” evokes the powerful orchestral opening of Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida!” and “Texas Lullaby” is a more downtempo ballad as he pays tribute to his home, crooning, “You can bury me underneath the deep, blue skies of Texas.”
2015’s The Underdog was a landmark achievement, as Watson became first independent male country artist to score a number one first-week debut on Billboard's Top Country Albums Chart.
