Brad Paisley, who’s co-hosting tonight’s CMA Awards with Carrie Underwood, unveiled a brand new single on Tuesday.
“Bucked Off” takes fans back to the country music of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s.
“This is a song that is a rodeo metaphor for getting broken up with,” Paisley told iHeartRadio. “And it's basically a throwback to those days, that golden age of country music, and that style of music, that's always what I wanted to do.
“It's fun to go back in time and sort of mesh what music sounds like now with some of that old George Strait sounding, Garth country stuff.”
Paisley, who co-wrote the song with Kelley Lovelace and Chris DuBois, said it’s intentionally not heavy. “It's actually just a fun look at a break up, and almost even the bright side of a break up, where it's sort of get back on once you get thrown to the dirt.
“I felt like in these times, it's something that felt like needed to be out there.”
