LISTEN: Katy Perry’s New Song ‘Swish Swish’ Could Be A Taylor Swift Diss Track

Katy Perry

Katy Perry has released a third track off of her upcoming album, Witness. The new song, titled ‘Swish Swish’, features Nicki Minaj. As soon as it was released at midnight May 18, fans began to speculate whether this was a Taylor Swift diss track.

“So keep calm, honey, I'ma stick around/ For more than a minute, get used to it/ Funny my name keeps comin' outcho mouth/ 'Cause I stay winning,” Perry sings, in what could be a nod to her ongoing feud with Taylor Swift.

Swift’s friend and cast member of Orange is the New Black, Ruby Rose, tweeted about the low blow, writing: “‘Purposeful poop’ to ‘bomb a petit’ to a sloppy mess of writing over the top of Funkagenda..stop trying to make ‘Wit… I mean ‘fetch’ happen.”

It was clearly a jab at Perry, as she mentions her new era of purposeful pop and makes a pun about her song “Bon Appétit”, which failed to perform on the charts.

Rose clarified in further tweets, “I just think with everything going on in the world to go from rebranding as political activist only to ditch it and go low.. is.. a bummer. I’ve always stood up for the people I love and against things I think are cheap or mean spirited. That’s not new. You have to follow your [heart emoji]. You are her fans you should buy all her songs so the songs will finally chart. If as many as tweeted me bought her last 3 .. they’d be hits.”

“Swish Swish” was produced by Duke Dumont. Take a listen to the track below:
