LeAnn Rimes has released a stripped-down version of her classic “How Do I Live,” in celebration of the song’s 20th anniversary last year.
“How Do I Live” reached the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1997, and spent a record-breaking 69 weeks on the chart.
"I wanted the arrangement of 'How Do I Live' to highlight the vulnerability of Diane [Warren]’s lyric," Rimes explained, in a statement. "It’s more of a spiritual experience singing the song in this new way, a personal prayer.
"I greatly appreciate and adore the original version and all that it has done – that will always exist and never change. I would love for this new arrangement to sit alongside the original as a companion, highlighting what a classic song Diane Warren created."
According to Billboard, the song is a personal thank you from Rimes to her fans for their continued support and “changing her life” by making the hit one of the biggest of all time.
Rimes’ latest release, Remnants, was released in February 2017.
