Robert Plant, only days shy of his 69th birthday, has announced that his 11th studio album will be released on Oct. 13.
The former Led Zeppelin frontman’s new solo release is titled Carry Fire (a phrase he used in 2005’s “Dancing In Heaven”). The album is Plant’s first since 2014’s Lullaby And… The Ceaseless Roar.
Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders lends her voice to one of the tracks, a cover of 1958’s “Bluebirds Over The Mountain.” The first single is "The May Queen" (watch the lyric video below).
In a 2014 interview, Plant said he doesn’t have any plans to stop making music.
“As long as I’ve got something to talk about that fits against a pretty chord progression,” he said, “I shall write songs.”
