Selena Gomez released her full take on Yazoo's 1980s hit "Only You" for the new Netflix original series 13 Reasons Why.
Gomez, who executive-produced the series based on the popular 2007 young adult book by Jay Asher, told the Associated Press at the red carpet premiere Thursday night that she "got a little controlling" in her role. Following the Los Angeles screening, Gomez took to Instagram to give a shout out to the cast and crew who made it all possible.
"Our show @13reasonswhy came out tonight and I couldn't be more overwhelmed with pride and joy," she wrote. "After 7 years of holding onto this book, I couldn't of picked a better time for this message to exist. Jay Asher wrote a beautifully tragic, compelling story and we were lucky to have brought it to life. Thank you to every single soul that put their heart into this passion project."
13 Reasons Why follows teenager Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) in his quest to uncover the story behind his classmate and crush, Hannah (Katherine Langford), and her decision to end her life. The series is available to stream on Netflix now.
