Luke Bryan Sings U.S. Anthem At Super Bowl

There was a sea of red, white and blue at Houston’s NRG Stadium on Sunday as country superstar Luke Bryan sang the U.S. national anthem at Super Bowl LI.

The 40-year-old singer was the first male artist to perform the anthem at the Super Bowl since Billy Joel in 2007 and the first country artist since Carrie Underwood in 2010.

Other country acts who have performed the anthem at the Super Bowl include Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, Faith Hill and Charley Pride.

Bryan sang a capella and didn’t grandstand — finishing the anthem in 2:04.

Notably, Bryan didn’t have any lyrics to “The Star-Spangled Banner” written on his hands, like he did when he performed the anthem at the 2012 MLB All-Star Game.
