Luke Bryan says he hopes singing the U.S. national anthem at last year's Super Bowl won’t be the last time he’ll perform at the big game.
The country star told CMT he wants to headline the Super Bowl halftime show.
“I just have to somehow get the right people to let me do the whole halftime show,” Bryan said. “We’ll see. You never know. [I’ll] have to do some booty shaking for the Super Bowl.”
The singer also reflected on his rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Super Bowl LI, which he called “the most pressured situation” of his life.
“I didn’t prerecord it, didn’t do any tricks,” he said. “A lot of the people that were doing the Super Bowl didn’t like the fact that I was going to stand up there and do it a Capella.
“Sunday morning, when you wake up and you know at 5:32 P.M., no matter what happens, you’ve got to walk your butt out there on the 50-yard line and sing the anthem…it was pretty surreal.”
Luke will get his stadium performance fix on his What Makes You Country XL Tour, kicking off May 31 at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
