Madonna, Lady Gaga Pose Together After Oscars

Madonna and Lady Gaga showed the world on Sunday that there are no hard feelings between them.

The two pop superstars posed together for a set of cozy photos at a post-Oscar bash. Gaga had just won Best Original Song for “Shallow” from A Star Is Born.

"Don’t Mess with Italian Girls,” read the caption on a photo Madonna shared on Instagram.

Gaga’s “Born This Way” and “Alejandro” have been widely compared to Madonna’s “Express Yourself” and “La Isla Bonita” respectively – and Madonna told ABC News in 2012 that Gaga’s music “feels reductive.”

During her tour, Madonna acknowledged performed a mash-up of “Born This Way” and “Express Yourself.”

In her documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two, Gaga slammed Madonna for not coming at her directly.

“No matter how much respect I have for her as a performer, I could never wrap my head around the fact that she wouldn't look me in the eye and tell me that I was reductive or whatever,” she said. “I saw it on f**king TV.”

Gaga added that she has always admired Madonna, “and I still admire her no matter what she might think of me.”

Madonna called Gaga “a very talented singer and songwriter” in a 2015 interview with Rolling Stone.  “The only time I ever criticized Lady Gaga was when I felt like she blatantly ripped off one of my songs,” explained Madonna. “It’s got nothing to do with ‘she’s taking my crown’ or ‘she’s in some space of mine.’ She has her thing.

“It was just that one issue. And everybody’s obviously running with it and turned it into a huge feud, which I think is really boring, quite frankly. And you know what? I don’t care anymore. Here’s the thing: one day everyone’s going to shut up about it. You’ll see! I have a plan.”

The 91st Academy Awards were filled with historic firsts and emotional moments, from @blackpanther‘s Ruth E. Carter and Hannah Beachler becoming the first black women to win in their respective categories (Costume Design and Production Design) to @ladygaga and Bradley Cooper’s stirring performance of their award-winning song “Shallow.” After the event, the biggest names in #Hollywood celebrated at “The Party,” entertainment mogul @guyoseary and @madonna’s famed after-party, where there is a strict ban on social media posts. TIME partnered at the event with the artist and photographer JR—a 2018 #TIME100 honoree—for an exclusive look at last night’s winners and partygoers. See more pictures at the link in bio.
