Meek Mill pleaded guilty Tuesday to a minor gun charge as part of a deal that spares him from spending anymore time behind bars.
“I know this has been a long road for you and hopefully this will be the end of it,” Judge Leon Tucker told the rapper, whose real name is Robert Williams, according to the Associated Press.
Mill was sentenced in 2008 to up to 23 months in prison and 10 years of probation after being convicted of carrying a gun without a license and other crimes. He served about a year but was put back behind bars several times for various probation violations before being released on bail in April.
Last month, an appeals court tossed his conviction after finding new evidence that would likely lead to an acquittal if Mill’s case was retried.
Although Mill admitted to having a gun, he denied that he pointed it at police officers or that he was selling drugs.
