R Kelly wants to go Down Under – and some people are pissed.
The R&B singer, facing multiple allegations of sexual assault, announced Tuesday – in a tweet that has since been deleted – that he’s going on a tour of Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. "See y'all soon!," he wrote.
Reactions came quickly. "We have a great history of repelling bugs like you," read one tweet. Another expressed hope Kelly would suffer a fatal tarantula bite while in Australia.
Shayne Neumann of Australia’s opposition party said, in a statement, that immigration minister David Coleman should deny R Kelly entry to the country if the singer “does not pass the character test, or there is a risk to the community while they are in Australia.”
Neumann said his party would be “seriously concerned” if Coleman allowed “an individual such as R Kelly into Australia.”

A government spokesperson would not comment on a specific case but said Australian law allows authorities to “refuse or cancel a visa where a person is found not to be of good character.”
Michael Avenatti, the lawyer who represented Stormy Daniels in her case against Donald Trump, weighed in on Twitter. "I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that @rkelly will not be traveling outside the United States in the foreseeable future...So for those in Australia etc., save your money. #Justice"
Kelly is reportedly under criminal investigation following claims by several women in the Lifetime docu-series Surviving R Kelly. In the wake of the broadcast of the series, artists like Lady Gaga and Céline Dion have taken their duets with Kelly off streaming services.
Gaga issued a statement at the time in which she said: “I can’t go back, but I can go forward and continue to support women, men, and people of all sexual identities, and of all races, who are victims of sexual assault.”
Kelly was also reportedly dumped by his record label.
