Rev. Al Sharpton To Visit Meek Mill In Prison
Reverend Al Sharpton has announced that he plans on visiting rapper Meek Mill in prison on Monday.
“Just because someone does something that is wrong, does not give you the right to do wrong to them. The sentence must fit the violation” Sharpton said at the National Action Network in Harlem on Sunday, according to NBC.
Mill was sentenced to two to four years in prison for violating his probation. The rapper was previously taken into custody for assault at St. Louis Airport and for reckless driving of a motorcycle through the streets of New York City. According to TMZ, although both charges were dropped, the judge still ruled that the arrests alone were against probation.
Sharpton is the latest celebrity to defend and show support for Mill. Others including Drake, Colin Kaepernick, and Jay-Z have voiced their opinions on how the rapper has been treated by law enforcement.
Mill is currently carrying out his sentence at a correctional facility in Chester, Pennsylvania.
