Shawn Mendes Among 2019 Juno Awards Nominees

Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara and The Weeknd are among the homegrown artists nominated for this year’s Juno Awards.

Mendes, who will be on tour overseas on Juno night, is up for Fan Choice Award, Single of the Year (“In My Blood”), Album of the Year, Pop Album of the Year , Artist of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year. "6 nominations! Thank you," Mendes tweeted.

Cara is nominated for Fan Choice, Artist of the Year and Single of the Year ("Growing Pains") while The Weeknd's multiple nods include Fan Choice, Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Single of the Year.

Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine from Season 1 of The Launch earned nominations for Fan Choice and Breakthrough Group of the Year. "We're really honoured to be nominated alongside some of our favourite artists," the duo said. "Thank you to our team for working so hard to get us here. Special thanks to the JUNOS, we’re so excited to be a part of the celebration this year."

Most of the Junos will be handed out at an industry dinner on March 16. A handful will be given out during the March 17th live broadcast from Budweiser Gardens in London, Ont., which will be hosted by Sarah McLachlan.

"I am very honoured and happy to be a part of it,” McLachlan said at Tuesday’s press conference.

Performers announced so far are bülow, Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Corey Hart and hometown duo Loud Luxury.

Producer and composer David Foster will be on hand to receive the 2019 Humanitarian Award.
