A musical based on the life and career of Cher will debut next fall on Broadway.
“My life as a musical on Broadway: It seems crazy, exciting and bizarre – but that's probably how my life seems to most people," Cher said in a statement on Thursday.
The Cher Show is set to open at the Neil Simon Theatre after a one-month run at Chicago’s Oriental Theatre beginning June 2018.
The musical is being directed by Jason Moore (Avenue Q) using a book by Rick Elice (Jersey Boys). Christopher Gattelli (Newsies) is choreographer.
Hits like “If I Could Turn Back Time,” “Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves” and “I Got You Babe” are expected to be part of the song list.
No casting information has been announced but it’s expected that three different actresses will portray Cher at various stages in her life.
Cher, who will be 72 when The Cher Show opens, tweeted this summer that a staged reading of the musical last January made her laugh and cry.
