Country superstar Thomas Rhett helped a Canadian couple get engaged during a performance Sunday night in San Diego.
Rhett stopped his intimate pre-show at Viejas Arena and invited Toronto native Zack Teperman up on stage.
Teperman, who owns a public relations firm in L.A., pretended to have a question for the singer, then said: “No, I’m just joking. I actually have a question for somebody else.”
Wearing a Blue Jays cap, Teperman turned to girlfriend Kayla Metz, a former Hockey Night in Canada production coordinator. “So baby, you know I love you,” he said. “I want to spend forever with you.”
As Rhett and his band — which included Oshawa-born drummer Chris Kimmerer — looked on, Teperman got down on one knee and brought out a ring.
Metz, who is also from Toronto, said yes.
“Congratulations, y’all,” Rhett said. “That’s incredible.” He then dedicated “Die a Happy Man” to the couple.
Teperman told iHeartRadio.ca: “We are overjoyed and can't thank Thomas, Chris and the rest of the crew for helping make this moment truly special and unforgettable.”
