Tina Turner To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

Tina Turner is among the acts who will receive the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award later this year.

The eight-time Grammy winner will receive the special honour along with Queen, Neil Diamond, and Emmylou Harris.

“Heralded as the Queen of Rock and Roll, Turner remains a global recording star worldwide,” read a description from the Recording Academy.

Turner, 78, currently lives a quiet life in Switzerland.

President/CEO Neil Portnow said in a statement: “This year's Special Merit Awards recipients are a prestigious group of diverse and influential creators who have crafted or contributed to some of the most distinctive recordings in music history.

“These exceptionally inspiring figures are being honoured as legendary performers, creative architects, and technical visionaries. Their outstanding accomplishments and passion for their craft have created a timeless legacy.”
