The world premiere of a Tragically Hip feature documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival on Wednesday night was followed by news of its theatrical release and broadcast debut.
Long Time Running will air on CTV on Nov. 12. It will be available the following day on CraveTV.
The film, directed by Jennifer Baichwal and Nicholas De Pencier, chronicles the iconic Canadian band on its final tour last year in the wake of news that lead singer Gord Downie was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
Before it airs on CTV, the doc will run in cinemas – presented in Dolby Atmos, a new audio format that delivers 3D sound.
“Beginning today, Hip fans from across the country can gather together to experience one of the most poignant and emotionally powerful films of the year,” said Randy Lennox, president of Bell Media (parent company of this website), in a release.
“Long Time Running [is] a film that celebrates the legacy of the band and their music which has become a soundtrack to the lives of many Canadians.”
