WATCH: Artist Performs Sexy Song In Front Of Kids
What child doesn’t love a catchy song with a sing-a-long chorus?
This must have been what Louisiana artist Valerie Sassyfras was thinking when she performed her song “Girls Night Out” at an outdoor children’s party in January.
“Girls night out / I’m gonna get all crazy,” she sang, as she ran her hands over her body. “Girls night out / I’m horny and I’m lazy.”
Also in the song, Sassyfras promised "we'll twist and twerk until dawn."
A video of part of the performance, shot by David Lee Simmons, has racked up more than 317,000 views on YouTube since Sassyfras posted it on March 25.
Standing on a small platform in a New Orleans park and equipped with a hands-free mic, Sassyfras really gets into the song – wait 'til you see what happens at the 0:37 mark! – but neither it nor her dance moves seem to win over the crowd.
“Sad the crowd didn’t appreciate the genius of it,” commented one person on YouTube. Wrote another: “What on earth were you thinking?”
Sassyfras originally shared a trippy video of a live performance of “Girls Night Out” on YouTube in 2015.
A classically trained pianist who was half of a zydeco duo in the ‘80s, Sassyfras now performs solo with a keyboard, accordion, beat machine and backing tracks. In December, she released the album Blast Off! A Cosmic Cabaret.
She is set to perform – for a decidedly more mature audience – on April 14 at the House of Blues in New Orleans.
