Avril Lavigne returned to the stage for the first time in years on the weekend — and it was to perform with her estranged husband Chad Kroeger.
The Ontario-born singer surprised fans at a Nickelback concert at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles.
“I haven’t been on stage in, like, three years,” Lavigne, 32, said.
Kroeger, 42, and his fellow Canadian bandmates urged Lavigne to “work the stage” before launching into their 2005 hit “Rockstar.”

Kroeger and Lavigne were married on Canada Day in 2013 but announced their separation in September 2015. There’s been no public confirmation that the two are officially divorced and Lavigne said in April 2016: “We love each other deeply.”
During this weekend's on-stage collaboration in L.A., Kroeger referred to Lavigne as "my ex-wife."
After the show, Nickelback shared a photo with Lavigne on social media. In another tweet, the band said: "Any stage @AvrilLavigne graces is instantly better off for it. Blessed to have had her join us."
