John Mayer has released the first video from Wave 2. The Japanese-inspired visual sees Mayer dancing with… giant pandas?
Directed by Mister Whitmore, the 39-year-old enters a Japanese dojo, dances with pandas with a background chock-full of people dressed in samurai gear.
Getting out ahead of any accusations of cultural appropriation, he told the New York Times: “I’m on the right side of the line because it’s an idea for the video that has a very multiethnic casting, and nobody who is white of non-Asian is playing an Asian person.”
The singer-songwriter also had some opinions to share about Fifth Harmony. He took to Instagram Live earlier this week to extrapolate on how Fifth Harmony just won’t sound the same without ex-member Camila Cabello.
Taking to the piano, he played some chords to demonstrate just how different four notes sound to five. "I like Fifth Harmony. But then, Camila left the band, and now it's just this," he said, playing four notes on the piano. "If you really wanted to add me, you'd get this and that's one too many notes. Point being: Hi, Camila."
