Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus on Thursday dropped their collaboration "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart."
The track opens up on a steady note for Cyrus to sing about romance and allude to the devastating Southern California wildfires. However, once the chorus kicks in, the track flowers into a sad banger.
"Well, there's broken silence / By thunder crashing in the dark / And this broken record / Spin endless circles in the bar,” Cyrus sings. “This world can hurt you / It cuts you deep and leaves a scar / Things fall apart, but nothing breaks like a heart / Mhmm, and nothing breaks like a heart.”
While the cut will appear on Ronson's forthcoming studio album, which is due next year, "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart" serves as Cyrus' first new song since her 2017 album, Younger Now.
The video for the song is an ode to how we perceive celebrity in a troubled world. Cyrus flees a police chase as she makes her way through various set-ups like children shooting guns, football players kneeling and other symbolic scenarios.
