Sara Evans has unveiled the video for “Marquee Sign,” the first single from her eighth studio album Words.
“I wish you were a pack of cigarettes,” the country star sings. “‘Cuz you would have come with a warning.”
Evans co-wrote “Marquee Sign” with Jimmy Robbins and Heather Morgan and the recording features backing vocals by the singer’s 14-year-old daughter Olivia.
The song, aimed at an ex, is all about wishing there had been warnings.
“I should have known from the start that you were only here to break my heart,” she sings.
The video, directed by Peter Zavadil shows Evans in front of a — you guessed it — a marquee sign while various guys wear shirts emblazoned with warnings like “I will abuse you" and "I will cheat on you."
