Well, we're heading into the second full weekend of August and there's more things to do then the long weekend...the NEWSTALK Summer team is heading back to one of my favorite resorts..Severn Lodge in Muskoka owned by the Breckbill Family for nearly a century. It was named one of the 100 best family resorts in North America by world famous tourism magazines including Macleans, Candian Living, Toronto Sun and Star to name a few. 

Owner Rick Breckbill continues the tradition of superb all inclusive family vacations with fine Country Dining.  With the crazy weather this year, there's something to do for the entire family rain or shine including a games room and indoor activities.. when the sun shines there's 100 acres of hiking trails, tubing, sailing, fishing, canoeing, paddle boards and 2000 ft of waterfront to enjoy including a beach. 

Severn Lodge is close to Toronto, just 150 k..90 minute drive up the 400  to Gloucester Pool overlooking the famous Trent Severn Waterway and all the magnificent yachts.  They're also known for amazing kids programs, weddings and a detailed conference facility with everything from suites, lakeside rooms and cottages..Severn Lodge is a must stop on your summer calendar.

OK, as for events it's a busy weekend, so lets start in Orillia for Waterfront Festival...in water boat show, kayaks to cruisers, Doc Dogs, water ski shows and Cardboard Race at Noon on Sunday all weekend at the Port.

Just down Hwy 11 it's the famous Boots and Hearts Music Festival featuring some of the country's biggest names..largest event of it's kind in country music including Keith Urban, Luke Bryan and plenty more.

Gravenhurst is busy with Street Festival and Sidewalk Sale Friday night and Saturday..live music, great shopping, food and plenty more for the entire family.

Moving out of Muskoka heading to Niagara on the Lake it's 27th annual Peach Festival with live bands, pipes and drums to start your Saturday morning then a full day of Peachy delights right downtown.

The oldest and largest rowing event in North America continues in St Cathernines..135th Royal Canadian Henley Regatta..it started last weekend with the finals this weekend at Henley Island and spectators are welcome.

Fergus is famous for summer, but also the Scottish Festival and Highland Games..72nd annual...Pipes and Drums on Friday night followed by fireworks then 2 days of competing ..parade of clans on Saturday then womens heavy Scottish events on Sunday. 

Heading to Collingwood there's Famarama Festival at Blue Mt Village celebrating families and music...Just down the mountain it's the Sidelaunch Days, at Collingwood Harbor Sat and Sun...celebrating unique ship building in the area with Parade of Lights Boat Parade on Sat at 9 and two full days of events on the water.

As you're heading to Collingwood chances are you drove right through Stayner, don't miss Gathering of the Classics, vintage aircraft and tours from Edenvale Aerodrome all weekend. 

Wasaga Beach is back with Foam Fest..5k of foam on Saturday..open to all ages and abilities from 7-5 at Beach Area 2.

Alliston is big for the spuds..44th annual Alliston Potato Festival with a parade on Friday at 7 with over 30,000 people expected on the weekend...midway, beer garden,. potato pancake breakfast Sat followed by classic car show, kids games and more. 

The Sunflower Festival runs Friday and Saturday in Sundridge just north of Parry Sound, with Wing Ding Dinner on Friday, then pancake breakfast Sat, BBQs and new Splash Pad and street dance Sat night.

Heading just north east of Oshawa it's the 10th annual Orono Antiques Street Festival on Saturday...over 30 vendors on Main Street with everything from furniture to collectibles.

Shelburne hosts the Heritage Music Festival..66th year..use to be Canadian Open Fiddle Championships, along with a giant fiddle parade, Elvis show and plenty of music the entire weekend.

Goderich is known fro summer fun but the 25th annual Celtic Roots Festival is underway with 5 stages, local food, artisans and more at Lions Harbor park.

Coldwater is hosting something unique..Steampunk Festival...through Saturday with a vintage car show, tractors, childrens museum, and more throughout various parts of town.

Cannington is just south of Orillia for the 7th annual Brocks Big Bite..annual food festival, sidewalk sales, farm to table delights and live entertainment on Sat from 2-7.

Baysville is just north east of Bracebridge for the Riverfront Arts and Crafts Festival...Sat and Sun..3lst annual with artisans from across the Province at Robertson Parkette.

Trenton is known for the Waterway plus 11th annual Quinte Ribfest, Friday to Sunday with 11 Ribbers at Centennial park on the waterfront....Model Boat Day is featured in Port Hope..Cdn Firefighters Museum, incredible hand made boats and more on Saturday at the Museum.

While you're in Port Hope check out the Festival of Farmers Market on Saturday at Memorial Park from 10-3.

London is hoppin, literally with the 6th Forest City Beer Festival Fri and Sat..right downtown and Fanshawe College..Kitchener Blues Festival is underway both indoor and outdoor venues throughout various parts of town.

Hamilton doesn't miss the fun with Rib Fest at Gage Park part of the Northern Rib Tour with live music and beer garden all weekend.

Fort Erie hosts the 32nd annual Seige Weekend..Canada's largest re-enactment of Canada's worst battlefield from 1814. 

Sat and Sun..Cambridge also hosts Rib Fest..3 day food extravaganza...6 International Ribbers at Riverside Park.there's also Galt Grandfest downtown on Saturday with sidewalk sales and more.

Brantford hosts Annual Kinsmen Ribfest at Cockshutt park all weekend.

It's worth the drive to Acton..Leathertown Festival on Sunday..a family street festival right downtown with Haltons biggest block party, car show and live entertainment.

Closer to the city, Oshawa hosts Concerts in the park, all weekend at Memorial park.

11th annual Woodbridge Ribfest..with tribute bands and beer gardens at the Fairgrounds.

Whitchurch Stoufville has the 44th annual Antique and Classic Car show on Sunday from 11-4 at the Museum..hundreds of cars and trucks from yesteryear.

The Roundhouse Craft Beer Festival takes place all weekend. 

Pan American Food and Music Festival Sat and Sun at Yonge Dundas Square. Canada's only annual food festival celebrating Canada's 150th with live music, dancing and more.

Brits on the Lake is featured in Port Perry..Sat and Sun right downtown with hundreds of classics on display.

Pickering hosts Food Truck Festival all weekend at Esplanade Park.

Oakville has a tradition..52nd annual Art in the park featuring some of Canada's best..over 175 artists.
