It's Family Day weekend

Well, the NEWSTALK ski team is on the move again.. It's Family Day weekend and the weather looks perfect...This time heading back to Mt St Louis/Moonstone for a great Family Day weekend celebration. 

A number of resorts are holding individual celebrations and invitations so check out your favorite and enjoy.

Snow conditions are magnificent..tons of snow, and resorts from Barrie north are machine groomed powder with more granular to the south but all with great base. 

Everybody is open, full tilt both day and night, downhill and cross country. 

OK as for events, there's a ton of Family day celebrations all featuring live entertainment, music, food and activities for the entire family. 

The list is long so I will give the dates for each town or city celebration along with Provincial celebrations and free Family Fishing so you don't need a license along with snowmobile trails in the Province. 

Winter Carnivals are huge starting Friday night and all weekend in Wasaga Beach for Snowman Mania..13th annual kicking off with fireworks at 10 then a weekend of fun for the entire family including a chili cookoff, polar bear dip, Super Dogs and more at the Rec Plex and various parts of town. 

The 70th annual Peneganguishene Winterama is ready to roll all weekend with fireworks at 8 on Friday then pancake breakfast on Sat, demolition derby, live music and more through Monday at various parts of town.

Snowfest in Parry Sound is also underway with a Fishermans dinner and dance Friday night then pancake breakfast on Saturday and spaghetti dinner....fireworks on Sunday night and free skate on Monday at the Bobby Orr Center.  

It's a big weekend for snowmobilers.. the annual Kawartha Cup ..54th annual featuring factory teams from across North America all weekend at the Lindsay Fairgrounds. 

The Dorset Winter Carnival runs it's 28th year with a family skate on Friday then pancake breakfast on Saturday then a parade at 11...opening ceremonies and more at the Rec Center. 

The Gravenhurst Winer Carnival is also underway with 5 days of fun for the entire family including a polar bear dip, donut eating, live entertainment and more in town. 

It's free to fish, so head to the 12th annual Fishing tournament in Barrie on Saturday with $50,000 in prizes at Kempenfelt Bay from 11-2.

If you're into model railways head to Barrie..48th annual Allandale model railway show at the Bradford Greenhouse Sat and Sun. 

Everybody loves a good laugh, 6th annual Port Credit Comedy Festival runs through Sunday featuring the very best in stand up comedy at Clarke Memorial Hall.. 

Winterlicious also runs in Oakville and Burlington to complete your day or night.  It's all about exercise and great outdoors at the Romona Annual Winterfest...cross country skiing, hiking and walking through the forest on Saturday from 10-4. 

There's a tradition in Seguin..34th annual Anniversary of the Dog Sled, Mail run with Sledvelopes now  collectors items...17k trip through the bush to Rosseau with teams from across the Province on Saturday from 8-1, in Humphrey near Parry Sound.  

Heading east, the Annual Winter Carnival in Prince Edward City near has family fun with a pancake breakfast on day and fish fry, all Saturday at Town Hall.

Newmarket Winter Carnival kicks off on Saturday with a pancake breakfast, free skate, outdoor music and more through Sunday at the Riverwalk. 

Kidsapalozza is always popular in Markham....York Regions largest family day event with all sorts of indoor games and kids zone at the Fairgrounds Sat through Monday.  

Frost Festival is popular in Haliburton on Saturday with wagon rides, pony rides, sled dogs, polar bear challenge on Saturday at one, and more at Rotary Park.  

Family Weekend Festival takes place in Brampton with live music, entertainment and skating, all weekend at the Powerade Center.  

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is busy all weekend with 11th annual Kidsfest..largest inflatable festival in Canada plus plenty more Sat through Monday. 

Family Day celebrations take place on Monday at Kortright Center for Conservation, Fort York, Brick Works, Niagara Falls at Heartland Forest and the Museum, Lunar Fest in Mississauga at the Living Arts Center, Bronte Creek Provincial Park in Oakville, in Barrie at the Sport Complex,  Arctic Adventure in Aurora at Town Park with live entertainment and battle of the chainsaws and Trade Shows are huge this weekend starting Friday with the GTA Home and Reno Show in Mississauga at the International Center along with the Spring Fishing and Boat Show. 

The Toronto Motorcycle Show at Enercare, International Auto Show at Convention Center through the 25th. 

There's another Kidsfest, but in Mississauga at International Center with huge inflatable showcase, food and live music Sat-Monday and Winterrouge at the National Urban Park on Sunday from 11-4.

Thats it for now, thanks again to Banff Tourism along with the Elk and Avenue for great hospitality this past weekend...over 100cms of fresh powder fell over the weekend..50cms on Thursday then Blue Bird Days and more..the restaurants, pubs and shops are perfect for a downtown stroll along with dog sledding, snowshoeing and of course the fantastic Big 3 mountains with incredible scenery at Lake Louise, Sunshine and Norquay...Banff is a must stop on your calendar anytime of year.
