Ski season is over!

Well, the ski season is done for yet another year.  It's been a fantastic season for the NEWSTALK Descente ski team with amazing trips to Sun Peaks, Kamploops BC interior.  We were super impressed with the quaint European style village surrounded by 3 mountains and levels of skiing from expert to green.

There's a great sense of community as well with Canada's Queen of skiing, Senator Nancy Greene along with her husband Al Raines as mayor of the town.  It's BC's fastest growing community with a brand new walk in clinic/hospital along with elementary schooling.

Our next stop took us to Banff, and never disappointed with the majestic Rocky Mountain views from Lake Louise,  Sunshine Village and then closer to town Norquay.  The Big 3.  Banff has something for every skier and non skier in the family with a great town of shops, bars and restaurants along with of course world class skiing.

Our final trip was to Mt Tremblant in the beautiful Laurentians with $17 million in on hill improvements, 96 runs from double black to green, glades and over 650 acres of skiing magic.  Tremblant is just five and a half hour drive from Toronto and 1 half hours north of Ottawa.  You can drive or fly direct with Porter Airlines from Billy Bishop Airport.  We stayed at the amazing Fairmont Tremblant, without a doubt one of the classiest nicest resorts I've ever had the pleasure of staying.

I was most impressed with greeting by doormen and valets at the front door, to check in staff and hotel staff.  Friendly professional staff make a big difference in your resort experience.  The amenities are fantastic with the biggest outdoor whirlpool I've seen, along with a huge outdoor pool and indoor pool for cool days or nights.  There's a gym, spa and out of this world food in one of their many dining rooms or lounges.

What's also fantastic and very in and ski out, off a green run so good for any level of skier..there's a valet service to store your skis plus a ski rental shop so no need to bring your equipment.  Mt Tremblant and Fairmont Tremblant are must stays on your calendar anytime of year especially with 15cms of new snow this past week and skiing through mid April winding up with announcing line up of stars for 25th anniversary of Summer Blues Fest on April 14th.

During the summer you can take in Blues Fest then enjoy some of the amazing golf courses in the area with some of the best scenery you'll find anywhere.  The entire province of Quebec is enjoying an extended season as Stoneham and Mt St Anne have just announced their season is extending til 14th as well.

The NEWSTALK Descent Ski Team also enjoyed a great season of local skiing and thanks to our sponsors that make this all happen every year..Pizzaville has been sponsoring NEWSTALK winter reports for 6 years and counting...Markville Ford based out of Unionville sponsors our NEWSTALK Ford Explorer and also thanks to Descente ski suits,  Rossignol skis, boots and poles, Hestra gloves and Smith Optics.

Thats it for another ski season and we look forward to a great summer of reports coming up as well!
