The deep freeze continues

Well, we're into week #2 of the deep freeze and it's not holding back the NEWSTALK ski team with plenty of fantastic skiing on tap...wear the proper gear, cover your face, wear a helmet and watch the little ones to enjoy some of the best conditions in years.

All resorts are open, full operation on machine groomed powder and tons of base.

OK as for events, there's plenty in ski country and the city so lets start with one of the biggest motorcyle shows in the country starting Friday with the North American Supershow featuring over 1,000 motorcycles, over 50,000 attendees and something for everyone in the family at International Center.

Canada's biggest Bridal Show kicks off..30th year at the Metro Convention Center all weekend.

Next Stage Theatre Festival is one of Toronto's premier winter theatre events with musical, dramas and kids shows at Factory Theater through the 14th.

Shen Yun is an amazing show of dance and folk music at the Four Seasons Center, last weekend.

Canadian Winterlands continues at Casa Loma with dazzling light displays in the gardens, illusionist and more. 

A great place for kids is the ROM with 3 special exhibitions, Vikings, Dior and Wildlife...through Sunday.

Winter at Ontario Place also continues with a winter light exhibition, skating on synthetic ice, movies at Cinesphere on IMAX and plenty more through March.

Just outside the city, Holiday Traditions continues at Royal Botanical Gardens with all sorts of family fun through the weekend.

Victorian Festival runs for the last weekend at Bronte Creek Provincial park with hands on crafts, traditional games, play barn and more.

Heading north of the city, Mayors New Years Levee takes place in Bradford with a free skate, live music and performances at the Leisure Center on Sunday.

On Saturday, it's Mayor and Council Pancake breakfast and family skate with free pancakes and skate from 9-11 at the Sports Complex..There's a Moonlight Ski at Horseshoe Valley on Saturday night with instructors filing down the hill with lanterns and then free hot chocolate and cider in the chalet from 6-9.

Moonlight Snowshoe Fondue takes place at Hardwood Hills..they're back up and running after last weeks fire with live music, food and family fun on Sat from 6-11.

There's also a Moonlight Snowshoe and Chilli Cookout at Snow Valley in Barrie with one price including rentals and food starting at 6 on Saturday.

Winter Break takes place in Midland at Wye Marsh Wildlife Center with Bannock Roasting, Feature Creature and more from 9-5 all weekend. Snowshoe Eco tours runs all weekend at Wye Marsh as well with a tour of the Marsh and fires to warm up.

Heading to Collingwood Jingles and Joy takes place at Blue Mt village with horse drawn wagon rides, restaurants and bars all winter.

There's a Night Snowshoe hike at Scenic Caves on Saturday with an hour romp through the forest starting at 6. Frozen Rail Jam takes place on the mountain with Ontarios best freestylers, snowboarders and aerialists with finals at 3. 

Heading into Muskoka, it's Family Carnival in Gravenhurst all weekend with indoor family fun, entertainers, live music and food at the Discover Center from 9-4 daily.

Arrowhead Ice Trail and Ice Night takes place at Arrowhead Provincial Park every Saturday til March with skating through the forest...3-6 and 6-9. Ski joring also takes place at the Park and bring your dogs..they'll pull you around on skis..every Sunday through March.

Owen Sound has Ring in the New a snowman, and watch winter movies the Grey Museum on Saturday.

One of the biggest winter carnivals begins with Snofest in Peterborough...3 weeks of family events, snowmobile races, games and food throughout various parts of town.

Winter Family Fun Days runs in Southhampton at Bruce County Museum with everything Steam on Saturday from 1-5. 

Inflatable Fun Days is different for the winter but Ancaster is celebrating anything and everything inflatable for the kids..indoors of course at the Fairgrounds on Saturday.

A big celebration takes place in Niagara on the Lake..Icewine and Ice Cream tour..every with winery tours, sampling and plenty of cuisine all January..and while you're in the area head to the Falls for an amazing laser show on the Falls and Clifton Hill..every night with shows starting at 5:30.
